Abstract Art Painting Studios - From Primitive Caves to Modern Lofts

Abstract Art Painting Studios - From Primitive Caves to Modern Lofts

Have you ever tried to remember the first time when you found yourself looking at an abstract art or an abstract painting? This article is a reflection of some of my own personal and subjective viewpoints and realities as an artist about abstract art with certain references to facts that are in agreement with what I believe myself as to the nature, birth, growth and the evolution of the abstract art outside the boundaries of the esoteric terms of the art academia.
To have a basic and fundamental look at the subject, we should first understand what the word abstract means before we could tackle the understanding of "abstract art" itself; and we learn that abstract in this sense and as a verb means to extract or remove and surprisingly as an adjective means not easy to understand; abstruse. As I evolved through my own representational art and became more acquainted with the history of art, I learned that abstract art had its roots in the very early dawn of human history when man began to draw on the walls of his cave. These early abstract arts, abstract drawings and abstract paintings - sometimes embellished with organic dyes - often attempted to capture the essential nature and the quality of the objects rather than the actual appearance of them.
As the art historians and art critics formulated their opinions and ideas into prints, more esoteric terms spun off the subject under "non-objective art," "non-representational art," and "non-figurative art." Centuries long before the birth of abstract expressionism in America, highly figurative arts had existed in the East, namely in the Islamic culture, where calligraphy also as a non-figurative art is taught as a subject starting sometimes as early as in primary schools, as great emphasis is placed upon the pupils' acquiring and developing skills in calligraphy, as the art of handwriting.

Indian Contemporary Art

Indian Contemporary Art

Contemporary just means "art that has been and continues to be created during our lifetimes". There is a certain amount of overlapping between "Contemporary" and "Modern" art. • Modern Art: Art from 1880 up until the 1960's or 70's.
Contemporary Art: Art from the 1960's or 70's up until this very minute.
Art History, 1970 is the cut-off point for two reasons. To categorize Indian Fine Art, have many criteria. Contemporary art - collectively - is much more socially conscious than any previous era has been. Roughly, Contemporary art runs from 1970 until now.
A more difficult approach is to understand Artists and their Art in terms of the inspirations they draw from. Art in India had always been an integral part of Indian life and excavations of Art objects from historical places have shown that Indian art had reached very high degrees of sophistication at various times in Indian History. Many of the artists in 21st century India use these historical styles in their art. Indian Contemporary artists take inspiration from various sources and styles, Indian Art still retains its distinct Indian's. Contemporary art in India provides an excellent opportunity to experience today's India through the unique and personalized visions of its artists.
Contemporary art is strongly influenced by the artists cultural background, history, training and experiences, it is forward looking. Contemporary Indian fine art is becoming increasingly accessible to tourists and the general public. In the reputed art centres of Mumbai, New Delhi, and Calcutta, museums and galleries proliferate.

Time For a New Arts Movement?

Time For a New Arts Movement?

It surprises and angers me that the art establishment places so much value on the meaningless manipulation of material as if the application of media in new or different ways can, by itself render the media into art. New does not always equal innovation, and innovation by itself does not equal art. Art is the emotional and intellectual expression, and subsequent personal revelation, of individual experience. Generally techniques and material innovation derived from the artistic process of self-exploration. Art should never just be a commentary or a political statement. In the same breath, art should never be merely sentiment or raw emotion. Instead, art should create a dialog through which both the emotional and intellectual response to experience is revealed. It is time for a new arts movement; time for artists to collectively define the direction we take in the 21st century. It is time to focus on those works which embody authenticity of expression over material manipulation, depth over observation, beauty (which does not mean pretty) over disturbing, clarity and insight over shock and confusion. There is no truth to the conviction that bad work sells and good work gets hung in museums. Finally, it is time to help our world heal through works and exhibitions that value human endeavor over human despair. With the new school year upon us, what better way to celebrate than with the grand opening of a new art website which is home to ten Texas artists celebrating art & life. Just Art reports the release of their new home page highlighting the artist's paintings, as well as the artist's varied art techniques.

Where to Find Beautiful Arts and Crafts

Where to Find Beautiful Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts

Arts & crafts are deeply rooted in regional and ethnic cultures, so the specifics of what kinds of objects constitute arts & crafts varies greatly across the world.

How long have arts and crafts been around?

The origin of arts & crafts can be found in simple bartering transactions; expert artisans and crafters would trade their skill for sustenance. As a result, arts & crafts as a widespread profession quickly died out; individual artisans and crafters could just not compete with industrial efficiency. In the end arts & crafts is mostly made up by hobbyists and small retailers.

How do you find arts and crafts?

Arts & crafts are generally not difficult to locate. Artisans often participate at arts & crafts fairs in order to have the opportunity to sell their wares, and allow buyers the opportunity to browse and shop from a variety of different types of arts & crafts.

Festivals and fairs are good destinations to look for arts & crafts. In addition to shows and fairs, permanent arts & crafts malls are also easy to find in most metropolitan areas. Art generally refers to fine arts, such as glass creations, paintings and sculptures. The people behind the creation of these objects have usually received formal training at art schools or have studied art through other programs. These art objects are usually expensive.

Vietnamese Fine Art - Better Than Ever!

Vietnamese Fine Art - Better Than Ever!

The last decade, especially, has witnessed a dramatic growth in the number of people world-wide taking an enormous deal of interest in Vietnamese fine art. It is safe to assume now that Vietnamese fine art has finally come of age.
Less than a decade ago, contemporary Vietnamese fine art and artists had negligible presence in their own country and virtually none on the international art scene.
Yet, in 1993, eminent art critic and accomplished painter Ca Le Thang wrote in the popular art journal My Thuat, "In 1992 a total of 130 groups and one man exhibitions were opened in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring works by local (Vietnamese) artists... and even (artists) from overseas. Since then, Vietnamese fine art has not looked back. Instrumental to this have been such significant events as the exchanges between the Queensland College of Art, Brisbane, and the University of Fine Art, Ha Noi, and the visionary Indochina Arts Projects spearheaded by David Thomas in the United States.

Get Started With Innovative Nail Art Designs

Get Started With Innovative Nail Art Designs

Today the nail fashion trend is greatly inclined towards nail arts that is not only unique in every aspect but also gives a stunning look to the otherwise dull looking nails.
A lot of young and fashion conscious women are taking on to nails art as the best way to get rid of dull looking plain nails. From just wearing a color on your nails, nail art enhances the beauty of nails with its innovation in the form of small motifs, danglers, stones, glitters, ceramic flowers, etc which will make your nails stand out for any occasion.
Nail arts designing can vary from subtle and delicate designs to bold and funky designs.
Nails art requires certain basic steps to be followed to get the application perfectly. Before you start with nail designing, make sure you clean and shape up your nails properly. You can also consider using acrylic nails if your nails are in a real bad shape and beyond repair. The nail art design can then be painted over these artificial acrylics.
Once your nails are painted with a base coat, you can create your designs using the nail arts brushes that are available in different sizes based on the design you want to draw. Intricate designs will require more thin tipped and finer nail brushes to get the design right and visible. Make sure you do it quick as nail polish dries very fast. Nails art designs can be created using different methods. Novices mostly prefer to create their designs by copying them from nail art books or seeing them on the Internet. One can also learn nail arts through courses offered by some professional nail salons. While much of the nail art designs use a combination of nail polish colors, one can also add some glitter into the nail polish before painting to jazz up your nails. The use of other nails art accessories like rhinestones, acrylic stones, 3D nail stickers, ceramic flowers, fimo art pieces, crushed shells, etc to name a few are also being widely used to highlight the nails and give them a more sophisticated look.

Buying Pop Art Paintings

Buying Pop Art Paintings

Contrary to popular belief Pop Art actually started in the UK in the 1950's and not in the USA in the 1960's as most people assume. One phrase espoused by art historians which fairly describes the origins of modern pop art is that pop art was born in England and grew up in America . Many small galleries, websites,eBay and even more traditional d├ęcor retailers are now featuring a range of affordable pop art paintings. Pop Art's been around for a long time hasn't it? Some would argue that the recent and re-explosion of the retail trade in the sale of original Pop Art paintings is the post-modern realisation of Warhol's vision of the role of art within modern society. Warhol's work in democratising art production and ownership were naturally hindered by the physical limitations of the amount of art he could personally produce. This inspired Warhol to set up his Art Factory (a studio production team mainly producing screen prints of Andy's original designs in the earlier years and a fully autonomous art machine in later years).
Industrialist art emancipates art from the modernist notion of the struggling artist working magic in his lonely garret and returns instead to an earlier model of the art studio collective producing art to order.

Art Gallery - Art Gallery Show Etiquette

Art Gallery - Art Gallery Show Etiquette

The gallery owner asks him/herself questions like: Will anybody come? The artist(s) asks all those questions plus: Did I take to long talking to that person? As an appreciative and supportive person of the artist (presumably you would not be there if you were not), be nice and gracious to the artist and the gallery owner. Believe me the artist will be somewhat relieved. Talk with the artist for a minute or two or maybe a little longer if you have a question. Not just talk politics.

Movie Poster Collecting

Movie Poster Collecting

There is a great deal of history behind movie posters and movie poster collecting. Jules Cheret, who created 2 movie posters in the 1890's, was the artist given credit for creating the first movie posters. It was in this early period in movie history, however, that movie studios realized movie stars were as much of an attraction to the moviegoer as the movie itself. Thus, the movie star was born, and movie posters began showcasing actors' names along with the title of the movie.
By the 1920's, the golden age of silent movies, movie posters became more artistic and spectacular, with accomplished artists being hired by movie studios to paint portraits of the stars for posters. By the late 1920's, movie poster images became sharper due to a new printing process developed by the Morgan Litho Company.
In the 1930's, also known in the movie industry as "The Golden Age of Movies", another style of movie poster was created, the half sheet. The movie industry cut advertising costs and used cheaper paper for posters due to the paper shortage of wartime.
By the 1970's, movie posters used photography, occasionally using drawing and painting styles. Movie posters at this time were being printed on a clay-coated paper, which gave them a glossy finish. Star Wars and Star Trek posters were the most popular posters of the time and are still collected by many today.

Abstract Arts & Abstract Paintings - A Panoramic Vista Cultivated With Mystery, Thrived on Veracity

Abstract Arts & Abstract Paintings - A Panoramic Vista Cultivated With Mystery, Thrived on Veracity

DEFINING AESTHETICS
As far as our general understanding of it is concerned it is a highly nebulous field, subjected to tremendous degree of misinterpretation, particularly in the field of abstract art. In the field of arts, with no exact fundamentals accurately developed, the techniques and approaches are wide open for the artists to imagine, explore and create their art.
The artist is also subjected to the "laws" of commerce, where various schools of divergent opinions begin to "teach" the artist "how" to be an artist and paint a certain way, citing the field's critics galore as she listens with an open jaw in lieu of reason. The "authorities," in the field of visual arts, most of whom have never painted any paintings themselves but are very "fluid" and "cultured" by having memorized a few standard opinions and artistic works and projects of humanitarian nature, analyze the paintings for the artist every step of the way, each time the artist presents a piece of her art for a critique, mainly to discover what's wrong with her art and how she should fix it according to these "professors's" brand of "expertise."
